The enclosed message, which I have just brought back from England, speaks for itself.

I am very sorry that it could not reach you in time for either Christmas or New Years, but I was delayed in my return.

I spent three weeks in England, going there by bomber and returning by sea.

It was a matter of great regret that I could not see Civilian Technical Corps volunteers personally, but they are scattered in many different parts of England, and my time was short.

Members of the Civilian Technical Corps are in the front line of the general war effort, and those I talked with realize that their job is to remain at work in England unless or until their own Government recalls them home.  They are doing a magnificent service in the common cause of defeating the Nazis.

Will you accept my personal good wishes for a Happy New Year,

Sincerely yours

(Signed)
