Dear Mom. Dad & All:-

Eve will not work, at least for a while after our marriage.  I have secured a new billet where I have a room with a double bed, so she can stay with me part of the time and spend part of her time at home.  She may do voluntary work in one of the W.V.S. canteens here to avoid conscription.  We won't attempt to start housekeeping as it's practically impossible to get a place and even harder to get anything to do it with.  Then there would be the difficulty of getting such stuff back to the U.S.  I will get all the allowance of a married officer, so I won't have to touch my allotment.  My promotion helps along that line too.  We will have no difficulty in getting Eve a passport and immigration visa.  I made inquiries at the American embassy.  So, all in all, we're both pretty happy about everything.  George seems well pleased too.  He sure likes the Humphrey's.  Ray is crazy about him, too.  Well, I guess that's all for now.  I'll try to write oftener after the big event is over.

Love to all,

Thatch
