Dear Mom, Dad and All:-

     I just wrote a couple days ago but since then Eve received your letter of July 16th and sent it on to me.  As a matter of interest I've compiled the English prices and rations for the items you mentioned in your letter.  So hear, hear and thank your lucky stars you're in the U.S.A.  Fresh tomatoes 30 (cents) lb, Raspberries 24 (cents) lb, Plums 8 (cents) lb, Potatoes 80 (cents) peck, Beets 14 (cents) lb, Cabbage 5 (cents) lb.  All unrationed.  Fresh peas 9 (cents) lb, 1 point per lb. there are 20 points per person per month.  Meat is rationed by the monetary amount of 25 (cents) per person per week.  Pork is 40 (cents) per lb.: 35 (cents) per pound for beef.  Sausage is not rationed and 20 (cents) per lb, there is only one kind.  Bacon is 1/4 lb. per person per week and is 46 (cents) per lb.  Butter ration is 2 oz. per week and is 35 (cents) a pound, lard ration is two oz. per week, also, and is 15 (cents) a pound.  Milk ration is 2-1/2 pints per week per person and 10 (cents) a quart.  Cream is out for the duration.  Canned goods are on points and prices and points are as follows, Tomatoes 9 points, 20 (cents); canned fruits 16 points, 35 (cents); condensed milk 8 points, 18 (cents); Spam 24 points, 50 (cents) lb.; corn unheard of; fruits not grown here not available, canned or fresh.  Cheese ration is 3 oz. per week. 20 (cents) lb, (one kind); watermelon unknown.  Cookies 6 points per lb.  Now do you feel well fed in comparison?
